As our landscape becomes more developed, urban and suburban landscapes play an increasingly important role in the survival of wild birds. Nearly 500 species of wild birds utilize Oregon for some portion of their life cycle and many of these pass through our cities and towns.

A bird friendly community recognizes the important role that local communities can play in protecting wild birds. It creates, restores, and protects habitat for birds, works to reduce threats to birds, and provides opportunities for stewardship, education, and nature-focused activity to engage the community in bird conservation.

This website will tell you how you can get your community certified as a Bird Friendly Community!
